The method of washing clothes with eggshells

Eggshells can be used to assist in cleaning clothing, mainly for removing stubborn stains or yellowing on clothing. Crushing eggshells and mixing them with laundry detergent, or soaking them in warm water to make cleaning solution, can help improve the cleaning effect. The main component of eggshell is calcium carbonate, and its fine particles can produce a gentle grinding effect during friction, making it suitable for treating local stains on friction resistant materials such as cotton and linen clothing. Before use, the eggshells should be thoroughly washed and dried, crushed to the size of rice grains, to avoid sharp edges damaging the fibers of the clothing. For the collar and cuffs of white clothes that turn yellow, you can mix crushed eggshells with a small amount of white vinegar and apply it to the stain, let it sit, and then wash it regularly. The eggshell cleaning method has limited effectiveness on protein stains, such as blood stains, milk stains, etc. Eggshell powder may remain in the crevices of the washing machine's inner drum. After use, it is recommended to rinse the machine with clean water by idling. This method is more suitable as an auxiliary means for hand washing small amounts of clothing, and it is not recommended to replace professional detergents for a long time.

When using eggshells to clean clothing, pay attention to material adaptability and avoid using them on delicate fabrics such as silk and wool. Regular detergents should still be the main choice for daily laundry, and eggshells can be occasionally used as an environmentally friendly auxiliary cleaning method. After cleaning clothes, they should be thoroughly rinsed to prevent residue from irritating the skin. If the clothing stains are severe or the material is special, it is recommended to consult a professional laundry institution for treatment.
