How to take out tender tofu without breaking it

The key to fully extracting tender tofu lies in controlling the force and using tools, such as tilting pouring, soaking and demolding, and knife edge assistance.

The texture of tender tofu is delicate and fragile, so when taking it out of the container, avoid grabbing it directly by hand. Gently tear open the four corners of the tofu box and fold it upside down onto a plate. Slowly tilt the box to allow the tofu to slide naturally. If it sticks, gently tap the bottom of the box or let it sit for a moment. You can also soak the tofu box together in clean water, using the buoyancy of water to reduce friction, and pour it out after the tofu separates from the box wall. Using a thin blade cutting tool to draw a circle along the inner wall of the box, and then gently pressing the back of the knife against the bottom of the tofu to lift it up, can effectively reduce the probability of breakage. Before operation, the tofu can be refrigerated for a moment to increase its hardness. If it needs to be cut into pieces after removal, keep the cutting tool moist.

It is recommended to choose a flat container for handling tender tofu and avoid using utensils with sharp edges. Keep the original box sealed and placed in the middle layer of the refrigerator during daily storage to prevent deformation caused by compression. Take it out 30 minutes before cooking to enhance the toughness of tofu, and use the moisture in the box directly to maintain its shape when cold mixing or making soup. If frying is needed, you can first blanch in salt water to shape it, and use a wide spatula to flip it over to prevent damage. Tofu is rich in high-quality protein and calcium, and moderate consumption can help supplement plant-based nutrients, but gout patients need to control their intake.
