Peanut oil can be stored for a long time in a sealed, dark, cool, and dry environment without spoiling. The main influencing factors include storage container material, temperature control, avoiding oxidation, preventing pollution, and regular inspection.

1. Storage container material
It is recommended to use glass or stainless steel containers to store peanut oil. These materials have stable chemical properties and will not react with oil. Long term use of plastic bottles may release plasticizers, and ceramic containers with damaged glaze can easily breed bacteria. Newly purchased oil products can be kept in their original iron cans, and after opening, they should be packaged in small capacity containers as much as possible to reduce air contact.
2. Temperature Control
Peanut oil is suitable for storage in an environment of 15-25 degrees Celsius, as high temperatures can accelerate oil spoilage. In summer, it can be stored in a cool place away from the stove in the cabinet, and in winter, it should be avoided from being placed next to the heating system. No need for refrigeration storage, low temperature may cause oil to solidify and affect use, and repeated temperature changes can actually promote spoilage.
3. Avoid oxidation
Immediately seal the bottle cap after each use to reduce contact with air. Large packaged oil products can be divided into small bottles of 200-300 milliliters, and a new bottle can be opened after using one bottle. Nitrogen can be filled into the oil bottle to isolate oxygen, or vitamin E capsules can be added as natural antioxidants.

4. Preventing Pollution
When using peanut oil, dry and clean utensils should be used to avoid mixing moisture and food residue. Do not store mixed old and new oils, as different batches of oils may have varying degrees of oxidation and may affect each other. The outer wall of the oil bottle should be kept clean to prevent the accumulation of oil stains and the growth of microorganisms.
5. Regular inspection
Normal peanut oil appears light yellow and transparent. If there is flocculent sediment, halal flavor, or a darker color, it has deteriorated. Drip a small amount of oil into the palm of your hand and rub it. High quality oil should have a fragrant and odorless taste. It is recommended to label the opening date on the bottle body. The unopened shelf life is about 18 months, and it is best to use it within 6 months after opening.

When storing peanut oil in daily life, you can place a few Sichuan peppercorns or dried chili peppers. Natural spice ingredients help inhibit bacteria. Avoid placing oil bottles near electrical appliances such as induction cookers and microwaves, as electromagnetic radiation may affect the stability of the oil. When cooking, control the oil temperature to not exceed 180 degrees Celsius. The oil used for repeated high-temperature frying should be stored separately and used as soon as possible. If slight turbidity is found in the oil, it can be observed by standing still. If there is obvious stratification, stop eating. Special populations such as infants, young children, and the elderly are recommended to choose small packaged oil products to ensure freshness.
