How to pick strawberries and pick more fruits

The key to picking more strawberries is to master the correct picking methods and techniques. There are mainly methods such as choosing the appropriate time, selecting ripe fruits, using the correct picking techniques, paying attention to the picking sequence, and carrying appropriate tools.

1. Choose the appropriate time

Early morning or evening is the best time to pick strawberries. At this time, the temperature is lower, the moisture and sugar content of strawberries are better preserved, and the fruit is fuller. Avoid picking during high temperatures at noon, as high temperatures can cause strawberries to become soft and easily damaged. It is not advisable to pick strawberries immediately after rain, as excessive surface moisture can affect their storage time.

2. Select mature fruits

Mature strawberries present a uniform bright red color, with no white areas around the stem. Gently touch the fruit, feeling slightly elastic but not soft. Avoid picking overripe or unripe strawberries, as overripe strawberries are prone to breakage and unripe strawberries have a sour taste.

3. Use the correct picking technique

Pinch the strawberry stem about 1 centimeter above it with your thumb and index finger, gently lift it upwards and rotate it slightly. Keep the fruit stem intact and do not pull the fruit directly. When picking, the movements should be gentle to avoid squeezing strawberries and causing damage. Immediately put it into a container after picking to reduce the number of handling times.

4. Pay attention to the picking sequence

Start picking from the outer edge of the strawberry ridge and gradually push inward. First pick fully ripe fruits, leaving immature ones to continue growing. When picking, be careful not to step on the plants and keep them healthy in order to continue bearing fruit. The same strawberry can be picked multiple times, selecting fruits with appropriate maturity.

5. Carry appropriate tools

Prepare shallow and wide containers to hold strawberries, avoiding stacking too high and causing squeezing. Can carry small scissors to assist in picking hard stem varieties. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes for easy squatting and picking. Prepare a sun hat and drinking water to ensure comfort during the picking process.

When picking strawberries, in addition to mastering techniques, attention should also be paid to protecting the strawberry plants. After picking, consume or refrigerate as soon as possible. Fresh strawberries have high nutritional value and are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. Moderate consumption of strawberries can help supplement nutrition, but it is not advisable for people with gastrointestinal sensitivity to consume too much. Pay attention to sun protection and hydration during the picking process, and enjoy the fun of picking while also paying attention to health.
