How to handle the sticky things of jackfruit

Jackfruit mucus can be removed by scrubbing with edible oil or salt. Mucus mainly comes from the white juice of the fruit peel and core, which easily adheres to the skin or knives after contact. It is recommended to wear gloves and apply edible oil for isolation when handling.

The mucus of jackfruit contains a lot of plant gum and resin components, which will emulsify when encountering oil. Pour a small amount of cooking oil onto the mucus and gently rub it. The gum will gradually break down into flocs, then rinse with clean water. Edible oil can form a protective layer to prevent mucus from directly contacting the skin, while also dissolving solidified gum. When handling cutting tools, you can first apply oil to the cutting surface before cutting, and then clean it more easily with detergent afterwards. If the skin has been stained with mucus and there is a slight stinging sensation, it can be softened by soaking it in light salt water. Salt particles can help to rub off mucus and inhibit skin allergic reactions. Mix salt and warm water in proportion, soak the affected area for about ten minutes, and gently wipe with a soft cloth. This method is suitable for people who are sensitive to oil, but it is necessary to avoid rubbing and washing hard to prevent skin damage.

When handling jackfruit, it is recommended to operate in a ventilated place. The smell volatilized by mucus may stimulate the respiratory tract. After cleaning, you can use lemon juice wiping tools to remove residual odors, and apply aloe vera gel to the skin to relieve possible discomfort. Pregnant women or individuals with allergies should have others handle it on their behalf to avoid direct contact with mucus. The immature jackfruit has a higher mucus content, so you can select the mature fruit with moderate elasticity by gently pressing the peel.
