How many days can bananas be stored?

Bananas can usually be stored for 3-5 days at room temperature, and can be extended to around 7 days when refrigerated. The actual storage time is affected by factors such as maturity, storage method, temperature and humidity. When immature green skinned bananas are stored in a cool and shady place at room temperature, the skin gradually turns yellow and softens, and the sweetness of the flesh increases but the texture becomes softer. Wrapping banana roots in plastic wrap can reduce the release of ethylene gas and delay overripe. Avoid placing bananas with fruits such as apples and pears that release a large amount of ethylene, as this can accelerate spoilage. If black spots are found on the banana peel but the flesh remains unchanged in taste, it can still be consumed and has a higher sweetness. Cut bananas should be refrigerated and consumed as soon as possible, as exposure to air can cause the meat to oxidize and turn black. Bananas that are frozen can be stored for 2-3 months and are suitable for making milkshakes or baked goods, but their texture will become soft after thawing. In the hot and humid environment of summer, bananas are more prone to mold growth. It is recommended to hang them for storage and maintain ventilation. Do not consume when the flesh turns black, seeps, or has a sour taste.

Mature bananas can be peeled, packaged, and frozen as a natural sweetener for daily use. To make dried bananas, they need to be sliced and baked at 60 ℃ for at least 6 hours. They can be stored at room temperature for 1 month. When storing, pay attention to checking whether the stem is moldy. Separating the entire banana can reduce the probability of mutual contamination. If long-term storage is required, choose bananas that are about 70-80% ripe for better durability.
