Do I need to wear a base coat for sweatshirts

Sweating clothes usually require wearing a base shirt, which can reduce direct friction between the skin and the sweatshirt, avoiding discomfort. Sweat inducing clothing mainly promotes sweating through its airtightness, but prolonged direct contact may cause skin sensitivity or acne. The design material of sweatshirts is mostly synthetic fibers with poor waterproof and breathable properties. When worn directly, sweat is prone to accumulate on the surface of the skin, which may stimulate hair follicles or cause itching. A base shirt made of pure cotton or quick drying fabric can absorb sweat and accelerate evaporation, while also blocking the chemical substances in the inner coating of the sweatshirt from coming into contact with the skin. After exercise, it is necessary to change the base shirt in a timely manner to avoid the growth of bacteria in humid environments. In some high-intensity exercise scenarios, professional athletes may choose not to wear base coats to achieve maximum sweat wicking effect, but when ordinary people continue to exercise for more than 30 minutes, their skin barrier function decreases, and wearing sweatshirts directly may cause contact dermatitis. People with easily allergic skin, acne patients, or those who do not clean their skin in a timely manner after exercise should pay more attention to the protective effect of base clothing. When choosing a base shirt, priority should be given to its moisture absorption and quick drying function. After exercise, clean the sweatshirt and base shirt in a timely manner to avoid sweat salt crystallization damaging the fabric fibers. Daily use of sweatshirts should not exceed three times a week, and the wearing time should be controlled within 60 minutes each time. Paired with a base shirt, it can balance sweat wicking effect and skin health. If there is a rash or stinging sensation, it should be stopped immediately and a dermatologist should be consulted.
