Can Sanqi powder help with weight loss

Sanqi powder is generally not suitable for direct weight loss. Its main effects are promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, reducing swelling, and relieving pain. Weight management should be achieved through a balanced diet and exercise, and it is not recommended to rely solely on traditional Chinese medicine powder for weight loss. Sanqi (Panax notoginseng) is a dried root powder of the plant Sanqi in the Araliaceae family. It is commonly used in traditional medicine to improve blood circulation and trauma recovery. The drug contains saponins that may help regulate blood lipid metabolism, but there is a lack of clinical evidence to support its lipid-lowering effect. Some studies have found that Panax notoginseng extract has a potential inhibitory effect on adipocyte differentiation, but there is insufficient human trial data and the required dosage far exceeds the conventional dosage. Blindly increasing the dosage of Sanqi powder without medical guidance may cause adverse reactions such as nausea and rash, especially for those with abnormal coagulation function, which poses a risk of bleeding. The Sanqi powder products claiming to lose weight often contain illegal ingredients such as sibutramine. Among the 15 illegal weight loss products reported by the National Medical Products administration in 2021, 6 were found to contain prohibited drugs. Consumers should pay attention to the fact that regular Sanqi powder should have a grayish yellow color, a bitter taste, and a sweet aftertaste. When mixed with water, it should produce a uniform suspension. Some solvents on the market may contain starch or talc powder, which can cause metabolic disorders after long-term use.

It is recommended to use Sanqi powder as an auxiliary conditioning product rather than a core weight loss method. Overweight individuals can take 3 grams of Sanqi powder 30 minutes before meals daily, combined with 40 minutes of aerobic exercise. During use, blood pressure changes should be monitored to avoid co administration with anticoagulants such as aspirin. If subcutaneous bruising or increased menstrual flow occurs, it should be stopped immediately. During the weight loss period, drink 2000 milliliters of warm water daily, replace staple foods with coarse grains such as oats and buckwheat, and increase the intake of high-quality protein and dietary fiber such as chicken breast and broccoli appropriately.
