Can an electric kettle cook dumplings

Electric kettles can cook dumplings, but there are certain safety hazards and the effect is not good. Electric kettles are mainly used for boiling water, and their heating power, capacity, and structural design are not suitable for cooking food for long periods of time. The heating element of an electric kettle is usually located at the bottom, and continuous high temperature may cause the dumpling starch to gelatinize and adhere to the inner pot, increasing the difficulty of cleaning and even damaging the equipment. Narrow spout can easily cause steam blockage, which may result in splashing and scalding during boiling. The temperature control device of some electric kettles will automatically shut off after the water boils, which cannot maintain the continuous boiling state required for dumplings, resulting in undercooked dumplings. When using an electric kettle to cook dumplings, the water level should completely submerge the dumplings but not exceed the maximum mark to avoid the risk of dry cooking. Frozen dumplings need to be unfrozen first to prevent uneven heating inside and outside. Starch food may produce foam to block the exhaust hole if boiled for a long time. Metal lined electric kettles are more prone to corrosion and rusting due to food residue, while plastic lined kettles may release harmful substances.

It is recommended to prioritize using specialized kitchen utensils to cook dumplings. If an electric kettle is temporarily used, it must be monitored throughout the process and immediately powered off for cleaning. Pay attention to checking whether the electric kettle is labeled with food cooking function to avoid electrical damage or safety accidents caused by improper use. Attention should be paid to the specialized use of kitchen utensils in daily diet, which not only ensures food safety but also extends the service life of electrical appliances.
