The main symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, dry cough and fatigue. A few patients are also accompanied by nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, myalgia and diarrhea. Severe patients often experience respiratory distress and/or hypoxemia one week after onset, and can rapidly progress to acute respiratory distress syndrome, septic shock, difficult to correct metabolic acidosis and coagulation dysfunction, and multiple organ failure. It is worth noting that severe patients may experience moderate, low-grade fever or even no obvious fever. Some cases of children and newborns may present with atypical symptoms, such as vomiting, diarrhea and other gastrointestinal symptoms, or only show mental weakness and shortness of breath. Mild patients only present with low-grade fever, mild fatigue, and no signs of pneumonia. From the current treatment situation, most patients have recovered well, while a few patients have severe conditions. Elderly and chronic underlying disease patients have worsened their condition after recovery.
